Welcome to this blog. The intention of this blog is to introduce the reader to the Ubhaya Vedanta tradition – a tradition that attributes equal importance to the Pancharatra thought system (that later crystallised as Visishtadvaita Philosophy) and the Dravida Veda of the azhwars.
Patrilineally, I hail from the villages of Karappankadu (Tanjore District) and Serankulam (Tiruvarur District). My mother hails from the divya desam of Tiruvahindrapuram (Cuddalore District). The information that I share in this blog have been learnt by me through Emperuman’s grace, the anugraham of my acharyan and with the help of commentaries written by our Purvacharyas.
About this Blog
The articles on this blog will pertain to various aspects of Srivaishnava Sampradayam – Philosophy, Rituals and Temple worship. I humbly submit these write-ups for the perusal of all Srivaishnavas by invoking the blessings of asmadacharyan Sri. U.Ve. Tirumalai Ananthanpillai Ranganathan.
This blog will predominantly feature English translations of the works of Nampillai, Pillai Lokacharya, Manavala Mamunigal and other acharyas representing the guru-shishya apostlic succession of preceptors that begins and ends with Sriman Narayana via Manavala Mamunigal.
This blog assumes a certain foundational knowledge of Sanskrit & Tamil vocabulary. The intention of the blog is to introduce the uninitiated into Srivaishnava Sampradayam and create in them an academic interest to pursue a further, formal-type education. None of what is written here is intended to replace the knowledge that one can gain from formal kalakshepam/discourse type learning. Hence, this blog is not to be construed as a substitute to such learning.
Some of the writeups in this blog have been sourced from my contributions to an ongoing project. I am reproducing them here with the permission of the copyright holders. The views/information presented herein have to be taken with a pinch of salt. If you could spot glaring factual/interpretation errors, kindly bring it to my notice (with valid supporting evidence, of course) and I will rectify it immediately. Hope you find this blog useful and enriching.
